Beautiful people from around the world have descended on the French seaside town of Cannes, for its 65th namesake film festival, and we’re on the prowl for a Sonam Kapoor sighting.
Last year, Indian actress Sonam Kapoor thrilled us with her (and her stylist’s) sartorial choices, particularly the Jean Paul Gaultier gown she wore on the red carpet. This year, a number of Indian actors are expected to walk the red carpet and party the night away with the likes of Diane Kruger, Bérénice Bejo and Tilda Swinton. We’re keeping an eye out for Sonam Kapoor, Freida Pinto and Aishwarya Rai, as well as former model Arjun Rampal (sigh).
With the festival in full swing, we have a few looks from our favourite Indian fashion darlings, Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto below.
Prior to Sonam’s departing from India for France, she attended a L’Oreal Paris (the official makeup sponsors of Cannes) event, where she posed as one of their key spokespeople in the country. She wore (above) a Carven shirt, The Row blazer, Sandro pants and Dolce Gabbana shoes. For beauty nuts, Sonam is wearing a L’Oreal Paris lipstick in Sparkling Amethyst.
In Cannes for the film festival, Sonam (right) is seen with Vogue India Fashion Editor, Priyanka Khanna. Sonam is dressed in a Gucci suit.
At the Gucci and Vanity Fair party, Sonam wore, quel surprise, Gucci. Not sure about the hair, but the earrings are lovely.
Freida is a fashion industry favourite, and has been dazzling photogs and fashion editors alike at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival. Freida wore a sheer, beaded gown by Versace (left) on the red carpet, followed by a fun-in-the-sun outfit (right) from Ferragamo.
Freida in Michael Angel (left) and Atelier Versace (right). It’s all about the right leg, and we like it. Love the gowns and simple styling, although we’re not fans of the shoes she opted on wearing with either dress – something more strappy with the Versace and something less strappy with the Michael Angel gown would have worked better.
Style Insider Note: Designer Jean Paul Gaultier (who designed Sonam Kapoor’s Cannes red carpet gown in 2011) is a member of the 65th Cannes International Film Festival jury, alongside actress Diane Kruger and other notable film industry insiders. Indian actors Aishwarya Rai and Nandita Das have previously served on the jury.
We’re still Desperately Seeking Sonam at Cannes 2012. Stay tuned, she will be walking the red carpet on the final day of the festival and we’ll be watching.
