DJ Rekha is a trailblazer in New York and in the international Bhangra scene with her genre-defying music. With her new record label, Beat Bazaar Music, she’s producing a new sound for the international, music loving circuit. And our discerning ears love the sound.
She’s taught classes at NYU, spun at her monthly Basement Bhangra events for 15 years, and has been featured in every major media outlet worth reading or watching (okay, so not Vogue, but the list includes CNN, MTV, Newsweek, The New York Times and The Village Voice). She was also noted on MTV’s list of “10 Female Producers You Didn’t Know Are Running Things,” and DJed at the White House for the President of the United States of America (yes, for Mr. Obama!).
The first single from Beat Bazaar Music is Pyar Baile, a riff of 80s Bollywood tune, Pyar Karne Waale. This new version, created by DJ Rekha and Dave Sharma, features Zuzuka Poderosa and Meetu Chilana, creating a genre-bending tune that will make you want to get up and dance every time you hear it.
