Our favourite fashion week of the year is finally here! Delhi Couture Week always gives us cause to swoon and drool, and this year is no different.
On the first day of PCJ Delhi Couture Week 2013, Sabyasachi presented a stunning collection named, “Opium.” Intoxicating? Yes. A continuation of his royal infatuation? Yes. My key thought on this collection is that is was more of the same. The same beautiful, classical pieces, the same silhouettes, same lehengha saris, same embroidery/lace. His version of opulent minimalism with exquisite styling. Maybe we don’t need to see anything new from the designer because you know what? We’re still swooning over the intricate embroidery, the draping, the hair, the makeup and that beautiful floor-length anarkali style white gown.

Anju Modi opened Delhi Couture Week with a show named after “Draupadi,” a pivotal, fiery character from The Mahabharata.
The collection showcased a palette reminiscent of the setting sun: burnt orange, reds, yellows, pinks and touches of navy blue. Key trends included high-necked and long sleeved blouses, jackets, full-skirted lehenghas and draped dupattas. Embroidery was minimal, with a focus on luxe fabrics, layers and borders. While it was an interesting collection, nothing really stood out amongst the pieces.
