With awards season in full swing, we’re seeing many Bollywood starlets walk the red carpet in Indian and international designers. Here are a few of our favourites from the Apsara, Screen, Zee and Filmfare awards (don’t worry, we don’t know what all these awards are for either).

To start, our favourite looks:

Anushka Sharma in Sabyasachi, Winter Festive Runway 2011. Divine. Never thought a velvet sari could look so good.

Tarina Patel in Marchesa (2011 runway look on right). Interesting and unconventional choice for Indian film awards and we like.

Priyanka Chopra in Salvatore Ferragamo. See what happens when you lose Manish Malhotra? Magic.

Kareena Kapoor in Paule Ka. Pretty, simple and elegant.

Deepika Padukone in Gauri-Nainika. We love the colour, fit and unbelievable sexy back. Deepika was seen at the Filmfare Awards in this gorgeous sari that had us thinking of 60s era actresses. Vintage beauty.

Madhuri Dixit can wear anything and look good. A golden beauty. On the right, the ever-so-elegant Kapoor sisters. Kareena’s blouse is riding up too high and the sari is tied too low, but overall they’re both pretty in Manish Malhotra, who decided to leave the velvet, ribbons and bling off of these two saris.

Sridevi in Elie Saab. We’re not huge fans of this actress, but she’s working that gown. She followed up that dress with a Herve Leger bandage dress – while we’re not huge fans of the bandage dress, Sridevi looks amazing in this dress.

Asin in Stella McCartney is an unexpected surprise in a Pucci-esque print. Nicole Kidman wore the same dress at the Country Music Awards, but we think Asin worked it better on the red carpet.

Sophie Chaudry was gorgeous in a navy Donna Karan dress, styled with jewelry from Indian designer Yogesh Jasnani. Love it. On the right is indie film star, Kalki Koechlin in Sabyasachi. Not sure how this dress would look on anyone else, but she looks gorgeous.
