Sequined minis are so 2011. Take a cue from Lotus Eye's recent collection and wrap yourself in a silk sari, the "it" fashion item of the season – every season.

We've never kept our love of Vancouver-based fashion house Lotus Eye a secret (see our interview with Creative Director Paromita Naidu here and her sophomore collection here). Paromita held her second runway show at the FORME: Exploring Fashion's Borders event, and the collection of graphic print saris, brocade skirts, and the re-imagined sari-as-a-cocktail dress all stood out on the runway.

There's a reason why FORME was a standing room-only event. Vancouver is gaining an appreciation for the subtle, the sublime and the contemporary. Amongst champagne glasses, soulful live music and cake pops, Vancouver's fashion set took in an innovative evening that married visual art, music and fashion. Don't get us wrong, we LOVE sequins and using our Bedazzler. But the ongoing trends of heritage fabrics, graphic prints and draping on Indian runways is something we've taken notice of and like. See below for some of our favourite looks from the Lotus Eye fashion show.
