Introducing Nishka Lulla. Fashion designer, possessor of Bollywood friends, and the woman behind start-up label, Nisshk.  She's also famed Indian designer, Neeta Lulla's baby girl, all grown-up and burning her own path in Mumbai's fashion world.

The 411: Nishka's mom, Neeta Lulla, is a seasoned designer, known for her sometimes flamboyant designs (remember Aishwarya Rai's fashion disasters at Cannes 2003?), contrasted with her ability to create regal outfits for Indian actresses (she also outfitted Aishwarya Rai in Jodhaa Akbar, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanaam and Devdaas, and more recently, Hema Malini at the IIFA 2011 Awards).

What About Nishka? Baby girl Lulla started her label, Nisshk in 2009, but her presentation as part of the Talent Box at Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2011 is the first time she caught our eye. For the wrong reasons.

We really want to like her work, but her "modern Indian girl" collection was too bright and the colours too clashing for our taste. The pret collection mixed bold ponchos and dresses with unfortunate, tacky lenghas we expect to see at generic Indian shops, not on the runway. She does on occasion artfully merge Indian patterns and motifs with more western cuts, and there were some definite statement pieces on the runway, but we favour the wacky statements of Manish Arora over these almost immature designs. Nishka, baby, time to re-apply to fashion school.
