The most talked about person at the 65th Cannes Film Festival was not Brad Pitt or even the well dressed Diane Kruger. It was Indian actress and model, Aishwarya Rai. Whether it was about her body, her clothes, or her baby, international media had their eyes on her, while we had our eyes on her beautiful makeup.
With our tips, you can recreate Aishwarya’s South Asian beauty look at home.
Eyes: Makeup artists used L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Hourglass Beige over the eyelid, followed by Endless Chocolat in the crease. They followed the eye shadow with L’Oreal 24hr Super Liner to line each eye, including the water line. To mimic Aishwarya’s dramatic cat eyes, draw the liner in a thicker line on top and extend the eyeliner past the eyes into an upward flourish. Follow this up with your favourite mascara. Jugni Style Pick: We love MAC Cosmetics Fluidline in Blacktrack. Use an angled brush for precise application.
Skin: Start with a good moisturizer, followed by a primer that will keep your makeup in place during a long night out. On Aishwarya, makeup artists used L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Golden Amber. This shade with work for you if your skin is as light as hers. For the rest of us, it’s going to be trial and error. Jugni Style Pick: We love the new crop of BB creams that provide primer, coverage and SPF, all in one tube. See our list of favourites here.
Lips: A neutral or nude lip colour keeps all the attention on the eyes. Aishwarya wears Glamshine in Cinnamon Addict. Jugni Style Tip: Line and fill your lips with a liner in a similar shade to your natural lip colour, followed by a nude lipgloss with a hint of pink so you don’t look washed out.
Cheeks: Complete the look with a light blush or bronzer. Aishwarya wears L’Oreal True Match Blush in Honey. Jugni Style Pick: We love NARS in Orgasm or Laguna.
