It’s all about Rihanna.
The Met Gala is all about drama, which results in some crazy and over-the-top looks on the red carpet (we’re looking at you, SJP). This year’s theme was the “China: Through The Looking Glass” exhibition, a retrospective of Chinese fashion on now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Unfortunately/not-unxpectedly, this theme translated into many dragons, gold embroidery, blossoms and other exotified Chinese imagery, rather than a display of gowns created by Chinese designers.
Leave it to Rihanna to deliver. The singer wins for most drama and excitement in her show-stopping, several metre long coat-gown created by Chinese couturier Guo Pei, followed by Solange Knowles in a fantastical dress by Giles. And as always, our perennial favourites (they can do no wrong) Mary Kate & Ashely Olsen get a mention for their usual restraint and glamour, both in vintage John Galliano for Dior.
Herewith, our favourite looks from Met Ball 2015:

Jourdan Dunn in Burberry – love the mirror-work and lattice embroidery
Naomi Campbell in Burberry
