Lace, animal prints and feathers. We’re in heaven. Naeem Khan’s Fall Winter 2014 show at New York Fashion Week was a dark, elegant and a red carpet-ready collection – exactly what we expect from this designer.

The collection was inspired by Liza Minnelli in Cabaret, which translated into lots of intricate beading, fringe and flapper dresses. We expect to see several of these gowns at the Oscars and other red carpet events throughout the season.
Our favourite pieces: The black satin gown paired with black satin coat with gold piping and embroidery. Stunning. The black gown with beaded bodice and ostrich feather skirt was a standout piece, as were the unexpected animal print gowns.
Key Trends: Minimal makeup with the focus on lips – go for red (here are some of our favourite rep lipsticks). For clothing, leopard and tiger prints, deep reds, flapper dresses, red lace and soft gold sequins were key themes. Sheer fabrics, feathers and fringe are additional trends to pick up on when planning your fall/winter wardrobe.
