Remember back in the 90s, when the first wave of Indian/Brit Asian remix music started? Bally Sagoo popularized the movement outside of the UK, and while he seems to have disappeared into oblivion these days, we still love his old skool remixes.
For your nostalgic and listening pleasure, this week’s #ThrowbackThursday post features one of our favourite Bally Sagoo tunes (“Wham Bham” and “Jugni” with Malkit Singh are a close second and third, of course).
“Noorie,” is a remix/remake of “Aaja Re O Mere Dilbar Aaja,” a song from the 1979 film, Noorie. The original was sung by Lata Mangeshkar & Nitin Mukesh, but Bally’s version was sung by Indian singer, Gunjan. “Noorie” was featured on Bollywood Flashback 2, which was released in 2000 as the not-quite-as-good follow-up to Bally Sagoo’s classic LP, Bollywood Flashback.
