It’s all about the mohawk maang-tikka. Outhouse presented a stunning collection of bejewelled gold jewelry inspired by the opulence and regality of Greece and Rome at Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014.
“The Column” collection was a perfect mix of architectural, edgy, and sexy pieces. A harness over your sari? Yes please. Mohawk maang-tikkas? Definitely. Spiked bracelets. Of course!
In their designer note, Kaabia and Sasha Grewal state: “We recreate the magnetism of mythical goddesses with what we call ‘The Colossal Winter of Gold.'” Semi-precious stones and gold come together in geometric art and linear designed haath phools, maang-tikkas, headpieces, and body harnesses. Outfits for the runway show were provided by JV by Jatin Varma.
Outhouse continues to be one of the most inspired and interesting jewellery brands in India, and it’s no surprise that they were included in Holt Renfrew’s H Project for 2014, curated with Waris Ahluwalia.
