Keep your winter clothes stashed for yet another season. According to Prabal Gurung’s Ready-to-Wear Fall 2013 collection, the military aesthetic, brass buttons and leather dresses aren’t going anywhere yet.
Key trends: Military chic. Think buttoned straps on the shoulder, leather belts and harnesses, aviator glasses, khakhi green jackets and thick strapped, wool pea coats in navy, and black leather booties, boots and heels. All of this is complimented with Nepali-inspired embroidery in red, black and white. Also spotted: peplum and leather clothing are still very much around. It’s a very wearable collection – we’re coveting a military coat in navy for next winter.
Our favourite looks: The white sari-inspired knee-length dress with gold embroidery caught our eye. The shock of the thick, braided black leather belt at the waist brings the perfect combination of delicate feminine detailing grounded with a military edge. We also loved the long sleeve navy gown with black leather harness – just the kind of look needed to shake things up on the red carpet.
