Take your mind off of the dreary Toronto weather and entertain yourself with an unusual take on a classic love story, and free beer. This is your Toronto events guide for November 29-30, 2012.
Sita Sings the Blues
“You might think my attention would flag while watching an animated version of the epic Indian tale of Ramayana set to the 1920s jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw. Quite the opposite. It quickens.” – Roger Ebert
Sita Sings the Blues: The Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told, follows Nina (also the filmmaker, writer and animator behind the film), an artist who finds parallels in Sita’s life when her husband – in India on a work project – decides to break up their marriage and dump her via email. The evening opens with a performance by the Autorickshaw Trio, followed by a screening of Sita Sings the Blues. The party then heads to BBQ Hut for beer and tandoori at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, November 29 at 8:00 p.m. | Projection Booth East Theatre, 1035 Gerrard Street East, Toronto| projectionbooth.ca [Image by Nina Paley]
