Sonam Kapoor is our perennial favourite on the red carpet. It’s why we dedicate an entire series to following her fashion adventures around the globe, including the Cannes International Film Festival.
I love Sonam Kapoor’s style. I like that she takes risks, her mix of high and low finds, and that she tries new and young designers while wearing classics from established houses. And I love that she wore another Anamika Khanna sari on the Cannes 2014 red carpet. Like last year’s outfit by the same designer, the look has been polarizing. Some find the cape an odd addition, the choker too large, and the dhoti-style sari odd.
The unusual drape of the sari is an Anamika Khanna signature design, and Sonam Kapoor wears it well.
Last year she paired her sari with a floor-length embroidered jacket and a dramatic nose ring; this year, a gauzy cape grazed her shoulders, held at the neck by a statement choker designer by Sonam’s mom, Sunita Kapoor.
