Masculine style is huge this Fall (when is it not?), from oversized coats and boxy blazers to chocolate brown brogues.

We love the idea of shopping menswear, and Sonam Kapoor, Beyonce, Rihanna and Grimes have embraced this trend too. Grimes was spotted in Versace at the VMAs recently, while both Beyonce and RiRi have been seen in Givenchy menswear.

To help you embrace this trend, we’ve compiled a list of 5 ways to shop menswear, from accessories to suits and everything in between.

Style Tip 1

Sonam Kapoor recently told Vogue India that she buys men’s suits for the refined tailoring. If you’ve got the dollar bills to spare, try Dior HommeTom Ford or holt renfrew’s custom suiting option. Or if your budget is a bit smaller, Zara (Sonam approved) is great for a svelte silhouette.

Style Tip 2

Do as Annie Hall, one of our favourite celluloid style icons. Pair men’s trousers and a white buttoned shirt with a wide tie and fitted vest, or layer a men’s trench over your dress. Balance the look with soft hair and a bright lip colour, or go dramatic and pull your hair back for a slick androgynous look.

Style Tip 3

Shop men’s undershirts. Soft and affordable, they’re loose enough to be cozy while still being sexy. Pair with skinny or boyfriend jeans, a minimalist cuff and heels, and you’re ready to go. Our picks: Joe Fresh v-neck and crew neck undershirts, $6 each, David Beckham underthings from H&M Men, or better yet, don’t over think it – try Hanes for Him.

Style Tip 4

Wear men’s accessories. If you’re not keen on adding more clothes to your closet (what???), another way to work some masculine styling into your outfit is to add a men’s belt to your dress or wear a large men’s watch (we like Karl Lagerfeld’s collection, but your dad’s watch will work in a pinch). The pocket square is another favourite – women don’t wear them often and they add another dimension to your conventional suit or blazer.

Style Tip 5

Wear a man’s shirt. You may not want to go all the way like Carrie Bradshaw – we always recommend pants! – but worn over a pencil skirt and paired with a belt, it’s an elegant look.

A white dress shirt never goes out of style. Try it tucked in to a pencil skirt, flared mini or skinny jeans. Our pick: White Collarless Smart Shirt, $46, topman.com.

Or how about swap the men’s shirt for a kurta worn as a dress? Wear it loose with the sleeves rolled up or pair with a belt at the waist and accessorize with some delicate jewellery for a nice contrast. Our pick: Josh Goraya Kurta Set, $154 at perniaspopupshop.com.
