Save the cheerleader, save the world! Or at least party while we come up with a plan. The Canadian Earth Summit Coalition is launching its nationwide campaign to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility on Wednesday, November 24, at the very cool Fortune Sound Club in Vancouver. Dancing, an eco fashion show, speeches from leading sustainability thinkers and a live art auction are highlights of the party, plus cameos from awesome Canadian stars (including one from Vampire Diaries!!!).
Well, you had us at party, but promoting sustainability with music, celebs and a fashion show isn't bad either. Official Champions of the Earth Summit 2012 Campaign include local actress and founder of VISAFF, Agam Darshi (Sanctuary, Dan for Mayor), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries), Aleks Paunovic (Personal Effects, Battlestar Galactica), and Artist Garett Campbell Wilson. The eco fashion show will include collections by Red Jade, Nicole Bridger, Sans Saucie, and Shereen De Rousseau.
In 1992, more than 100 heads of state met in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the first international Earth Summit. Twenty years later, the United Nations is bringing governments back to Brazil, and the Canadian Earth Summit Coalition will make sure our government is there and prepared to take a leadership role in development that is equitable and ecologically responsible. This event will raise funds for the Coalition to support Canadian civil society involvement in the Earth Summit 2012 via earthsummit.ca, stakeholder forums, special events and educational workshops across the country.
If you're at the party, come by and say hello to our Editor-In-Chief, Manjot Bains, and our Vancouver Correspondent, Sukhi Ghuman, who'll be covering the event for Jugni Style.
