40 super models, 35 international designers, 20 jewellers and fashion editor/stylist Carine Roitfeld – all at the amfAR Gala in Cannes for the Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show.
Dripping with gold and inspired by Elizabeth Taylor, the Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show for the amfAR Gala at Cannes celebrates the 20th anniversary of the annual event which raises funds for AIDS research.
For the first time, Carine Roitfeld (ex-Vogue Paris editor) curated a special, gold fashion show featuring the who’s who of international fashion. Tom Ford, Alexander Wang, Chanel, Prada, L’Wren Scott, Marc Jacobs, Marchesa, House of Waris (see his special edition cuff to the left), Valentino, etc, etc, plus Indian designers, Tarun Tahiliani, Amrapali Jewelry, Anand Shah and Symetree are all taking part. The show raised $1.59 Million CDN for AIDS research in an auction led by Sharon Stone.
Couturist Tarun Tahiliani created a special Cleopatra-inspired gown for the show, which was worn by model Karlie Kloss with Amrapali jewellery (see photo below, how gorgeous does she look!). He also created a Nehru jacket and jodhpur pants, worn by Spanish model Velencoso Segura.
“For someone in India to get a letter from Carine Roitfeld who says, listen, I really want you to be there, and for us to show what we create on a global stage, it’s amazing,” said Tarun Tahiliani on the red carpet. “We’ve all had friends and lost people to AIDS, so it’s wonderful to support this.”
He also dressed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who walked the red carpet in a gold sari. Do we like this sari or the bridal hair? Tell us what you think.
