fall coat trend camel coats

Story by Kiran Dhaliwal

Autumn is my favourite time of year. I may not love the London fog and rainy mornings but what I do love are the layers.

Camel coats are just everywhere and I am so in love with this trend! There is something about the shade that just screams luxury, elegance and indulgence. Camel coats were all over the runway and we have seen them on our favourite (and not so favourite) celebs over the past couple of weeks.

hermes camel coatWe all know the French do it best so who better to display than Hermes. This masculine look is romanticized by the soft camel colour and this whole look just screams chic!

I love the cut of the Hermes coat, but what I do not love is the price. Let’s not worry about saving thousands for this coat and see what our beloved high street has to offer.

A coat is an investment and not something that can be done too cheaply because a coat needs good structure and lining, so I am looking for the best the high street can offer in terms of good quality and price.

H&M Camel Coat

This coat from H&M is admittedly very cute and stylish. The price is even cuter at £49.99 ($83.89)! I am amazed at this price and think it’s definitely a bargain, but I suggest trying this coat on in-store rather than buying online to ensure that for this price, it doesn’t actually look like it cost that price.

Zara Masculine Double-Breasted Coat

Zara  followed Hermes with a masculine cut, but this gorgeous piece of fabric is only £129.99. Now, I must say, I tried on this coat and it was absolutely gorgeous and worth the price – this coat would definitely last a couple years (my beloved red coat from French Connection is still going strong and I got it when I was 15!).

Zara, $199.99 CDN/£129.99, available online and in-store.

And here, we have a truly beautiful coat from Jaeger. This is definitely not masculine; the lines on the coat make it extra feminine and gorgeous. At £399.00 ($700), this is at the top end of the high street and for those who truly want to make an investment in their coat this fall/winter.

And the winner is…

My personal favourite out of these three has to be the Zara coat. I swear by Zara, and I think the price of the coat is absolutely amazing. All three coats are stunning and different in their own way so whichever one you choose, you will not go wrong.
