What do you seek – power or decadence… or both? See if you can make a decision as you visit the world of extreme flavours this weekend at two major food festivals. This is your Toronto weekend events guide for October 13-14, 2012.

Toronto Garlic Festival

Calling all garlic lovers! Head to the 2nd Annual Toronto Garlic Festival (yes, there is such a thing!). Garlic lovers, growers and chefs will come together to celebrate the delicious versatility of Ontario garlic, with signature dishes, cooking demonstrations, and informative talks. You can also shop amongst the 50 vendors and purchase freshly-prepared, take-home meals. TIP: Make sure to check out the Ontario Science Centre exhibit on the fascinating world of garlic. October 13-14 | Evergreen Brick Works, 550 Bayview Avenue, Toronto | torontogarlicfestival.ca

Toronto Chocolate Festival

Chocolate – perfect, velvety, devilishly sweet, problem-solver (at least in our books!) Treat your sweet tooth to the magical powers of chocolate, at the Toronto Chocolate Festival. Running from October 13 to November 4, the festival features chocolate in all its magnificent glory at several events:

  • The Chocolate Ball – this year’s theme is “Coco Caberet”
  • Chocolate High Tea
  • TorontoLuxury Chocolate Show
  • Tour de Chocolat events across the city
  • A “death by chocolate” murder-mystery dinner
