How gorgeous did Jessica Alba look at the Golden Globe Awards? Her bright tangerine lips had us thinking of warm tropical places. Sigh. It’s still winter.

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Get over the cold weather blues with our tips to recreate Jessica Alba’s glamorous red carpet beauty look.

The key to Jessica Alba’s standout look was the tangerine matte lipstick that complimented her peach Oscar de la Renta gown. Rather than do the matchy-matchy thing and wear peach lipstick, her makeup artist went for a bold and unexpected contrast with tangerine, and we love it.

Insider tip: Makeup artist Lauren Andersen created this look using several products from Hourglass Cosmetics. A newcomer to the world of cosmetics, Hourglass offers most of its products as 100% vegan,  and is already a best seller at Sephora.

How to re-create this look on your own:

Skin: Start by prepping your skin with your favourite primer. Keep your skin natural and light with a tinted moisturizer (we like Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer) for sheer to medium coverage, and a concealer to add depth and dimension. Apply the concealer under the eyes, down the bridge of the nose, fanned out in the center of the forehead, blended out on the cheekbone, and above the bow of the lip. Recommended: Hourglass No.28 Primer Serum and YSL Touche Eclat #2.

Next use a talc-free powder or light reflecting powder – this will absorb the shine without creating a chalky texture to the skin. Some amazing powders that will keep your skin glowing but keep shine in control are NARS Light Reflecting Powder and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. Complete the skin by contouring with a bronzer in the hollows of the cheeks, temples, and jawline. Recommended: Bobbi Brown Bronzer Powder Dark

Using a Kohl pencil in a deep brown shade, line the upper and lower outer edges of the eye, and working quickly with either a smudge brush or Q-tip, smudge the eyeliner into the lash line to create a softer, sultry look. Finish by sculpting your brows and layer on some mascara. Recommended: Hourglass Film Noir Kohl Pencil in Expresso and MAC Brow Pencil Spiked.

Lips and Cheeks: Time to add some color to this look! Use a soft peachy-gold, such as NARS Orgasm (our favourite blush!) or MAC Peachykeen, and pop your cheekbones by applying blush to the apples of the cheek sweeping towards the tip of the eye. Finally, add Riveria lipstain by Hourglass Cosmetics as a final touch of color to the lips to re-create this red carpet look.
