Menswear is often treated as an addendum to women’s outfits at Lakme Fashion Week, but things are looking up for lads interested in a new look for Fall.
Metallics: In keeping with overall trends for the winter festive season, metallics in menswear were quite stunning, whether it was the gold silk kurtas at Nikhil Thampi’s showcase, or the small dash of gold to Randeep Hooda’s jacket for Rajat Tangri. Shantanu Goenka took the golds and embroidery to another zone with his elegant net blazer for his Krushun collection – these are trends to keep in mind this season.
Geometric and Cubist Looks: These vibrant, well-tailored kurta pajamas offered quite the innovative look on Debarun’s runway. However, the standout was the cubist and geometric styles that complemented the silk material at Riddhi and Siddhi’s Maxpenca Collection; so subtle and so chic.
Pastels and Prints: Prints couldn’t escape the menswear lines either, which had Aditya Roy Kapur in a white Nehru jacket with a ninja print paired with green trousers. We certainly weren’t complaining with Barkha and Sonzal’s colourful collection, or the traditional dhotis in Krishna Mehta’s Manipur collection, as the men looked quite dapper and natty in their colourful glory.
Standout Collection – Troy Costa’s “The London Eye” collection: We were immediately sold on this collection in seeing actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui looking sharp as the show stopper of the night. However, it was the exquisite tailoring and elegant designs that had us slightly salivating. It was reminiscent of the softer hues in The Great Gatsby and classic 30s style, which was an inspiration for the collection.
