Will Priyanka Chopra be the next Olivia Pope? (Please, please, please make this come true!)

Priyanka Chopra has signed a one year deal with ABC, the television network behind some of our favourite shows like Scandal, Modern Family, Black-ish, and How To Get Away With Murder.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story Wednesday morning, revealing that ABC and Priyanka Chopra signed a one year deal where the network will either create a show starring Priyanka (please make it a Shonda Rhimes production), or cast her in an existing program slated for a fall 2015 debut (please make it a Shonda Rhimes production).

After the release of her music singles in the US, a voiceover in cartoon flick “Planes,” and starring as a Guess Girl in a campaign shot by Bryan Adams, we are so excited to see Priyanka in a major television production in North America. We may not always be fans of her music and films, but she (and her management team, thanks in a big part to DesiHits.com’s Anjuli Acharia-Bath) have made smart, calculated moves with her American career, and she deserves all the success coming her way.

And what better network to make her American TV debut than ABC, the people who casted Sandra Oh in Grey’s Anatomy, Kerry Washington in Scandal, and Viola Davis in How To Get Away With Murder. Strong women of colour as leads are their thing.
