From Pepto-Bismol to powdery pastels, this fall and winter season is all about pretty pink with an edge.
Story by Nikki Dhaliwal
At the Fall/Winter 2013 shows, we saw a variety of textures and shades of pink coats, from Chanel’s iconic tweed to luxurious fox fur at Saint Laurent. It seems like the designers were inspired by Funny Face, a 1950s film starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. In the opening scene, Kay Thompson plays Maggie Prescott, editor-in-chief of Quality magazine, in a character loosely based on former Vogue editor-in-chief, Diana Vreeland. Prescott is disappointed in the magazine sales and suddenly becomes inspired by a pink swatch sitting on her desk and breaks into the film’s first musical number, “Think Pink.”
Here are few of our favourite pink coats from the runway.
On a budget? Here’s a selection of this season’s must-have trend, all (a little more) within arms reach. And if pink is too bold for you, opt for a soft powdery blush tone and pair with some black or grey leather boots.
